areeba is proud to be among the financial institutions that signed a new cooperation agreement with the Lebanese Ministry of Finance on Friday, 28 November. The agreement enables citizens and businesses to settle government-related payments using banking credit cards through POS devices installed at the Treasury Directorate’s cashiers across public departments.

This collaboration reflects a national effort to move the country toward a more secure and efficient digital payment ecosystem. The Ministry positioned this step as part of its broader reform plan aimed at reducing reliance on cash and modernizing financial interactions between citizens and government entities.

As stated by the Minister of Finance, the initiative will relieve citizens from the burden of cash payments at government counters. The Ministry confirmed that logistics and deployment of payment devices are currently underway and that card-based payments will gradually become available across all Ministry cash units located in various ministries and government offices.

areeba’s participation in this agreement supports its mission to advance the digital transformation of Lebanon’s payment infrastructure. With deep expertise in card issuing and acquiring technologies, and a proven track record of modernizing financial services, areeba remains committed to enabling secure, seamless, and accessible payment solutions that benefit both citizens and institutions.

This initiative represents a positive and practical step toward rebuilding trust in the financial sector and empowering Lebanon with modern payment capabilities that match global standards.
